Funeral Planning
If you have recently lost a loved one, we are deeply sorry for your loss and our thoughts and prayers are with both you and your family. To begin preparations for a funeral mass, please contact Melanie Cabrera, Pastoral Administrative Assistantto schedule a meeting for funeral planning in the parish office at 919-570-0070. Please see the Funeral Mass guidelines for additional information.

For End of Life (Funeral Pre-Planning)

• Please stop by the parish office to pick up an End of Life planning folder or visit the Readings & Music links below. End of Life planning folders can be picked up in the parish office or the sacristy in the church.

 

Funeral Mass Guidelines

•  The Rite of Christian Burial is principally celebrated in our church. It is appropriate to have a funeral mass for the deceased if they were baptized Catholic especially if they were practicing their faith. 
• Families are encourage to first schedule a meeting with the Pastoral Administrative Assistant to go over funeral planning.
• Funerals can be held Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays either at 11 AM or 1 PM in our church. A funeral can occasionally be scheduled at 2:30 PM on Fridays. Times may be subject to change due to events scheduled in the church and priest availability.
•  St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church is unavailable to host funerals on Saturday & Sunday due to scheduled Masses & Sacraments in the church.
• Funeral homes and families should arrive one hour prior to the scheduled funeral mass and gather in the Narthex. A funeral host will greet you upon your arrival to the church and assist with guidance during the funeral Mass.
• Flowers and photos of the deceased can be placed in the Narthex only. *(No floral arrangements during Lent)*
• For burial at St. Catherine of Siena Memorial Garden, the cost is $3,500 for registered parishioners and $5,500 for non-parishioners. Arrangements may be made through the parish office.
• Priests will accompany families to burial sites within our parish community.
• Eulogies are encouraged to take place at the wake. If a family is not having a wake the eulogy can be shared within the family prior to the Mass beginning in the Narthex. Eulogies can also take place at the conclusion of the committal at the graveside.

Funeral Fees
There is no cost for a funeral Mass but there is stipends for the organist, cantor, and sacristan that are provided. For registered parishioners the fee is $400. For non-parishioners the fee is $500. It is customary to also give a gift to the priest after the funeral Mass or burial service.
