Congratulations on your Engagement!  This is an exciting time in your life and a time where the church can assist you in preparing for the awesome vocation of married life. Preparation for the Sacrament of Matrimony requires the couple to enter into formation so that they may be ready to assume the duties of marriage in mutual and lasting fidelity.  Our Pastoral Administrative Assistant is here to help you prepare for a beautiful life in the Sacrament of Marriage.  

Please note: Couples are responsible for making their appointments and turning their documents in a timely manner. Persons who are previously married or couples who have special circumstances may have a slightly different plan of formation and timetable.

Please be advised that all couples (or parents) must be regularly worshiping parishioners at our parish or reside in our parish community in order to receive the Sacrament of Marriage at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. 

Please look at the checklist below for reference of the timeline for Marriage Preparation:

• Read wedding guidelines & complete the Wedding/Inquiry Form.
• Provide recently issued Baptismal Certificates (issued within the past 6 months with notations on the back). 
• Take the online Fully Engaged assessment in a timely manner (set up by parish office).
• Meet with a parish clergy to complete the Form A (pre-nuptial investigation). 
• Provide notarized Freedom to Marry Testimonial Form B for both bride and groom.
•  Schedule and attend the Diocesan Marriage Preparation Workshop at least 4-6 months before your wedding date.
• The prenuptial investigation must be complete before we can secure a date at St. Catherine's. Also, a deposit of $200.00 is required to secure the date on our calendar.
•  Meet with the mentor couple for Fully Engaged review sessions & meet with assigned mentor couple for a minimum of three to five times over the course of six months.
• Pay the remaining balance one month prior to your wedding. (Please see wedding guidelines for wedding fees)
•  Meet with the Music Minister to plan your wedding music and Wedding Liturgy. Coordinator to coordinate your wedding rehearsal.
• Email your reading selections  to [email protected]
• Obtain a Marriage License from the state of North Carolina at the Register of Deeds.
• Convalidation couples will need to provide a copy of their Civil Marriage License to the Pastoral Administrative Assistant.
