Our Memorial Garden, nestled near the majestic St. Catherine of Siena Church, was originally dedicated with 120 niches on January 14, 2018. Graced by a beautiful Pavilion which provides shade and protection from the elements, and paved with cobblestone walkways, each section of the garden is named after a beloved Saint. There is even a special section named after St. Gianna Beretta Molla, for the burial of miscarried and stillborn children, offering bereaved parents blessed comfort in their time of mourning. Surrounding the garden are the Stations of the Cross, designed and built by one of our Eagle Scouts. What a fitting and peaceful location to pray to our Lord! Future plans for the Memorial Garden include the expansion of up to 3,240 niches, the installation of a Marian statue, and the rollout of the Memorial Garden landscape master plan, designed to enhance existing features and bring forth new, lush trees and foliage. We invite you to come and visit our Memorial Garden to experience its serene beauty first-hand. It will always be a sacred place to gather and pray for our deceased loved ones inurned in the Memorial Garden or buried elsewhere.
As a Catholic, may I be cremated?
Yes, even in recent pastoral directives, the Holy See has reaffirmed the option for Catholics to choose cremation. What is a Memorial Garden?
A Memorial Garden provides alternative burial arrangements for parishioners who prefer cremation to in-ground entombment. It is an arrangement of in-ground niches into which an urn containing the cremated remains of a deceased person is placed for permanent burial. Our Memorial Garden provides an exceptionally beautiful, private site for grieving, prayer, and meditation.
Who may be inurned in the Saint Catherine of Siena Memorial Garden? The Memorial Garden is intended primarily for the use of the parishioners of the Saint Catherine of Siena Parish Community. However, with approval, the purchaser may inter family members who are not parishioners.
