How do I stay up-to-date with my elementaryschooler's catechesis?
IMPORTANT: This year, elementary (K-5) faith formation is moving to Canvas to manage its classes. After your registration has been processed, you will receive an email from Canvas asking you to create an account and join the class. It is IMPERATIVE that you join Canvas class to stay up-to-date with your elementary child's faith formation.
How do I stay up-to-date with my middleschooler's catechesis? Middle school (6-8) faith formation will still use Flocknote. For middle school families, it is imperative that you sign up for Flocknote to stay up-to-date with your children's classes. To register, simply text Saints520 to 84576. After you send this text, you will be sent a registration link. Please click the link and fill out all requested information. When Flocknote asks which groups you would like to receive messages from, please be sure to select your child's grade level under Faith Formation. If you are in Fraternus or Fidelis, please select those groups as well.
our youth programs - overview
1) Elementary School Catechesis & First Communion Preparation (English). On Sunday mornings September-May, we have traditional classroom catechesis. These classes will include a systematic teaching of the faith from approved textbooks. To register for these classes, please fill out the form below. In 1st & 2nd grade, students will prepare and receive their First Communion. Children who start the process late, but before 5th grade, can also prepare to receive their First Communion in two years' time.
2) Elementary First Communion Preparation (Spanish). On Sunday mornings September-May, we have traditional classroom catechesis, in Spanish, to prepare children grades 1st-5th to receive their First Communion. These classes will include a systematic teaching of the faith from approved textbooks. To register for these classes, please fill out the form below. Please note that the Spanish program is only offered for First Communion preparation, and not for nonsacramental years.
3) Middle School Catechesis (English). On Sunday mornings September-May, we have traditional classroom catechesis. These classes will include a systematic teaching of the faith from approved textbooks. Families may choose to enroll middle schoolers in this program, Fidelis/Fraternus, or both! To register for these classes, please fill out the form below. Please note that middle school catechesis does NOT ordinarily include First Communion preparation. To find out more information about how your middle schooler can prepare to receive their First Communion, please contact our youth minister Ed Snyder ([email protected]).
4) Fidelis/Fraternus (English). These groups are for middle school and up. Families may choose to enroll middle schoolers in this program instead of or in addition to traditional Sunday catechesis! These groups include weekly Wednesday night gatherings with dinner, prayer, games, and a lesson. The focus of Fidelis and Fraternus is on small-group mentorship, growing in virtue, and building a sense of brotherhood and sisterhood with participants. Fraternus is for gentlemen (age 11-99) and Fidelis is for ladies (age 11-99). Registration for this option will be available at the end of July.
5) Homeschool Catechesis (English). For children in 3rd-8th grade, families may select to receive a catechism textbook to use at home as part of their homeschool program. Please note that the homeschool program CANNOT serve as First Communion preparation; children must attend classes in person to prepare for their First Communion.
