Provide a hard copy of a recently issued Baptismal Certificates (issued within 6 months and with notations on the back).
Take the online Fully Engaged assessment in a timely manner (set up by parish office).
Call the parish office to schedule a meeting to Complete the Prenuptial Investigation (Form A) with a priest at 919-570-0070.
Provide notarized affidavits (Form B) for both bride and groom. A total of four affidavits should be returned to the parish office.Directions for filling out Declaration of Freedom to Marry (Form B) There should be two witnesses for the bride and two witnesses for the groom.Parental testimony is preferred. The next option would be from a close family member. An additional option would be from a close friend who has known the person since the age of 18. Future in-laws are discouraged from being the witnesses regarding freedom to Marry.Bride and Groom can not witness for one another regarding freedom to Marry. Form B must be dated, signed, and sealed by either a public notary, Priest, Deacon or Pastoral Minister. For any questions regarding Freedom to Marry, please contact the Chancery directly.
Schedule and attend the Diocesan Marriage Preparation Workshop at least 4-6 months before your wedding date.
The prenuptial investigation must be completed and reviewed by the pastor and Baptismal Certificates must be provided before we can secure a date at St. Catherine's. Also, a deposit of $200.00 is required to secure the date on our calendar.
Convalidation couples will need to provide a copy of their Civil Marriage License to the Pastoral Administrative Assistant.
Meet with a mentor couple for Fully Engaged review sessions & meet with assigned mentor couple in person for a minimum of 2-4 over the course of six months.
Pay the remaining balance one month prior to your wedding. (Please see wedding guidelines for wedding fees)
Meet with the Music Minister to plan your wedding music and Wedding Liturgy. Coordinator with a Wedding Liturgy Coordinator to schedule your wedding rehearsal.
Email your reading selections to [email protected]one month prior to your ceremony.
Obtain a Marriage License from the state of North Carolina at the Register of Deeds 60 days prior to your schedule wedding date.
